Walters Lake connects upstream with Heather Lake. And the lake lies within the township of Independence in Oakland County.

Walter Lake properties lie in Independence Township in Oakland County with a Clarkston mailing address.  The children on the lake go to  Clarkston Schools.  Most of the roads around the lake are paved though a few are gravel.  Most of the homes are on well and septic though a few are on sewer and muncipal water.  Most of Walter Lake properties range in size from .12 acres to over 2.6 acres.  There is even a property that is over 14 acres.   The lake homes were built during the period of 1930 to the early 2000's.  So there is a wide variety of homes and home styles on the lake.
