Green Lake is a ELECTRIC MOTOR ONLY LAKE. No gas motors are allowed on the lake. So you will see only man powered, electric powered, and wind powered boats on the lake.
Green Lake in West Bloomfield is one of the few larger lakes that is electric motor only. The other electric motor only lakes that is over 40 acres we know of in Southeastern Michigan is Bogie Lake. Stonewater subdivision lakes in Northville, Harvey Lake, and other smaller Oakland County Lakes are electric motors or man powered.
Green Lake is the only large Oakland County Lake that caters to the quiet and calm aspect of lake living. There won't be any jet skier on the lake waking you up or disturbing you while you are relaxing on your deck!

Green Lake homes command a higher dollar price for two reasons. It is in West Bloomfield with West Bloomfield schools and because it is a rare non-motorized lake (though there is one street that is Walled Lake Schools).

Standard for Oakland County Lakes you will find a few of the older homes still left on the lake. But the majority of the lake front homes have been re-modeled or new luxury homes with modern ammenities have been built.
There are some homes over 6000 square feet on the lake. So we would call this more of an upscale lake. The homes are well -kept and you won't find lots of trailers and junk in the yards.

The kids that live on the lake go to West Bloomfield Schools and some do live in the Walled Lake School district.
Our recommendation to you is to get a survey when you buy a lake home. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO SO. I have a cottage on White Lake and have seen a few battles between home owners over the lot lines. Twice I have seen where the owners were completely surprised that they did not own the land they were fighting over. If you have a staked survey you will not have any surprise.
If you are buying a waterfront property look up the property lines at the county or the community the home is in. We have seen lakefront homes sold that were not really lake front. They had a subdivision or community access in front of them. We have seen lot lines that angle. Where the owners thought they owned a perfect rectangle instead it was an rectangle at an angle.
So many home owners and lake home owners assume they know the lot lines. But many of them do not. It is important to get a staked survey so there are not property disputes with neighbors. On White Lake in White Lake Township there was a home sold years ago as a lakefront home. It became a law suit when the owners found out that the neighbors actually owned the lakefront in front of their home. They ended up letting the home go back to the bank.
We have seen several lake homes listed this year that were not actually lakefront. They had a lake view but they did not actually own to the lake. It is up to you the buyer to do the research to make sure of that.
