Mickelson Lake Oxford MI Information
Michelson Lake is not part of what they call the Stringy Lakes. It is a lake that is just to the north and west of the lakes. They connect but only small boats can get to the Stringy Lake chain. A pontoon or speed boat cannot get through. The water level at the culvert is very shallow.
The lake is fed by the Paint Creek from the north and by a small stream to the west. When doing my research we noticed that they did have a lake association but that it had been dissolved years ago. We do not know if there is one currently.
Mickelson Lake is not a big all sports lake. It is just smaller lake. If you are looking for a big lake then this lake will not be for you. It is a good lake for occasionally water skiing, and tubing. It is a big enough lake to do that.

Mickelson Lake is what we would call a subdivision lake. They are basically newer brick homes built after the 1970's. You cannot tell the difference between the lake homes and any home in a subdivision. There are no little old lake cottages that were built in the 1920's to 1950's on Mickelson Lake. There was a nice section of 18 homes that were built on the lake called Sandy Shores.
Here are the basic characteristics of Mickelson Lake homes in Oakland County.
- Homes range from 1600 square feet to over 5000 square feet
- Most homes have 3 to 5 bedrooms. One home does have 2 bedrooms
- 2 to 5 1/2 bathrooms
- Mainly 2 & 3 car garages however there are some that have up to 6 car garage
- Lakefront Homes were built from 1973 to 2014
- Home styles are cape cods, ranches, colonials, split level homes
- Most homes have basements some are walkouts
- Most homes sit on lots .3 to .5 acre though there are some 1.45, 1.48, 1.57, 1.67, 2, 2.16, 2.19 acres in size

Mickelson Lake is located in Oxford Township in Oakland County. It lies south of Seymour Lake Road and East of Sanders Road. The lake is about a mile from downtown Oxford. It is west of M-24.
