West Bloomfield Lakes Oakland County MI

West Bloomfield Michigan is full of lakes.  About 12% of the township is water!  West Bloomfield Township is sometimes referred to as the "lake township of Oakland County".  West Bloomfield has 24 lakes that cover 1858.7 acres. So there are many West Bloomfield lake front properties and homes.

There are so many different sizes of  lakes in the township.  There are what I would call "ponds".  That are like Bloomfield, Morris, and Flanders Lake.  They are great for swimming and maybe taking a row boat in.  Then you have the quiet non-motorized 100 acre Green Lake. Then you step up to the all-sports lakes like Walnut Lake, Union Lake, or Middle Straits lake.  Of course the biggest lake is Cass Lake at 1280 acres.

West Bloomfield Lake front real estate varies from small 800 square foot 1920's built lake cottages to large present day luxury lake front mansions that are 9000 square feet + that costing several million dollars. On most of West Bloomfield lakes those old cottages have been torn down to make way for newer and bigger homes.  So you won't find many of them around anymore.

I would say most of the lake homes have been built after the 1950's, are at least 1500 square feet, and have at least some brick on the exterior.  So many of West Bloomfield lakes have a higher concentration of newer and bigger lake front homes.

West Bloomfield lake front properties command a higher price that surrounding cities lake properties because of the school system and the prestige of the city.  I would classify most of the big West Bloomfield all sports lakes as "higher end" lakes.

There are even a few lakes that have condos on them.  Vacant lakefront property is at a premium in West Bloomfield.

All of these lakes are not completely in West Bloomfield. Some are only partially in the township.

Lake home buyers are looking to buy because of the lifestyle.  The boating, the sunsets, the wildlife, and the nature around the lake.  So here is a sellers' tip:  Put out pictures of how much fun you have had on the lake over the years.
