White Lake in White Lake Township is a public all sports lake that is just east of Duck Lake in Highland Township. We would call this lake a very active lake on the weekend and holidays. White Lake lies in both Highland and White Lake Townships.
Russ has a house on the lake so we know it very well. This is how we would describe the lakefront homes on White Lake in Oakland County MI. It is definitely not a subdivision style lake. Though there is Seven Harbors subdivision on the west side of the lake. Most of the lakefront homes are a mix of large and small. It is not unusual for there to be a small waterfront cottage next to a newer updated colonial home. There are fewer and fewer small lake cottages left as many home owners are remodeling and adding on. Some of the old cottages have been torn down to make way for larger and newer waterfront houses.
Just this year alone we have seen 3 or 4 remodeling projects in the works. There are still a few vacant lots on the lake but those owners have been holding on the lakefront lots for years. They have had no desire to sell them in the past years.
There is a mega mansion on the lake, several homes that have hundreds of feet of lake frontage, and many homes over 2500 square feet. There are contemporary homes and just about every style that you can image.
