Upper Pettibone Lake was originally called Highland Lake until at least 1908. The lake was formerly the site of large commercial ice cutting operations. Each winter large blocks of ice would be sawn from the frozen lake and stored in a massive ice house for eventual shipment to Detroit by train. A fire in May, 1929, destroyed both the ice house and workmen's dormitory. It takes its name from the creek into which it flows, which was itself named for Levi Pettibone, who settled in what would later become the Village of Milford in 1827.

Upper Pettibone Lakefront homes for sale. Homes on the south side of the lake are mainly ranch homes. The homes on the northwest end of the lake are mostly colonials. Some of the home on the northwest side of the lake sit on 1/2-1 acre deep lots. There are gravel roads on the north side of the lake. Upper Pettibone Lake home styles are:

Upper Pettibone Lake is comparable to some Oakland County MI Lakes in that there are smaller 50' lots mixed in with larger lots.. Many of the lakefront homes are not what you would call private. You can see your neighbors and sometimes they are close to you. If you are looking for more space you might want to look at Long Lake in Hartland.
Upper Pettibone Lake does have lake access homes nearby. Below is a picture of the association park on the lake.
There are no homes that have sold on the lake since January 2005.
