The biggest all sports lake near Brighton MI is Woodland Lake. The closest lake to downtown Brighton is Brighton Lake. There are about 34 lakes in the Brighton area. I have included some of Genoa Township in the search. I have given a brief description of some of the Brighton area lakes below. If you click on the links you will be sent to a page with lots of information on the local lakes.
Bitten lake is a private non all sports lake. It is an electric motor only lake lake. It is a small lake that is only about 30 acres in size. No public beach, no marina, no restaurant on the lake. Bitten Lake is spring fed and fed by Long & Maxfield Lake.
Blaine Lake is a private non all sports lake that is about 46 acres in size. It is a small round lake and most of the houses on the lake are the smaller older cottages. Some are being for year round homes now. It is west of old US-23. The homes are on well and septic systems.
Brighton Lake is the closest Lake to downtown Brighton. It is a private all sports lake that is about 150 acres in size. Brighton Lake is an interesting lake in that it is an all sports lake but at the same time it is electric motors for some of the residents. When Pine Creek subdivision was built the homes in the subdivision had the restriction of electric motors only. So when buying on the lake be sure to ask if the property. The children that live on the lake go to Brighton Schools.
You will find bigger brick colonials on the Pine Creek subdivision side (The west side of the lake) The homes will be smaller on the east side of the lake.
Clark Lake is a small private non all sports lake that is about 25 acres in size. Clark Lake is a mostly non motorized lake. Though there are people have electric motors on boats and I saw a few pontoons that had gas motors. The lake is just a small round lake. I always think Clark Lake is picturesque with all the large mature trees. Clark Lake Road is just a circle road around the lake.
Many of the homes sit above the lake and some homes have a few stairs down to the lake. There are some great views from some of the lakefront homes.
East Crooked Lake in Genoa Township MI is one of three lakes that are clustered close together. So close that all you have to do is walk across the street to get to the other lakes. The other two lakes are West Crooked Lake and Clifford Lake. Clifford Lake has a dirt public access ramp which takes you through a narrow channel and out to the lake. There is no access to Clifford Lake from this lake. All the roads around the lake are paved. East Crooked Lake is a private all sports lake that is 252 acres in size.
Island Lake is another lake that is in a cluster of three lakes. The other two lakes are Briggs Lake and Fonda Lake. These lakes were weekend getaways and vacation spots for people before 1950. You will find quite a few small cottages on the lake. There were hotels/apartments on the lake. Some lake home buyers do not like the east side of the lake because of these places. They also do not like that the homes are close together on the east side of the lake. It is private all sports lake that is about 140 acres in size and 35 feet deep in the deepest spot.
Lake Chemung is closer to Howell than Brighton but it is just north of Grand River about halfway between Brighton and Howell. It is a long narrow lake that you can see from Grand River when you are driving down the road. It is a public all sports lake that is about 370 acres in size. The deepest point in the lake is 70' feet. The homes are on wells and sewer. You will find homes that range in size from 600 square feet to over 3500 square feet.
It is about 1.6 miles in length. DNR Access to the lake is off Hughes Rd. The west end of the lake is natural. There are no homes on that part of the lake! Wilson Marine is on the east end of the lake on Grand River.
School Lake is a small round lake off Old 23. There are some very large homes on this all sports Lake. School Lake is a private all sports lake that is about 79 acres in size and 34 feet deep in the deepest spot. It is a spring fed lake and the water level does not change much even during droughts. I have friends that live on the lake. They love living there. The fishing is good.
The lake is a private all sports lake that is about 176 acres in size. There are three lakes in a cluster. Round Lake, East Crooked Lake, and West Crooked Lake. You cannot get from one lake to the other in a boat. The homes are on well and sewer. I do not know how deep the lake is.
Many Michigan lake home buyers like Woodland Lake. The lake lies at the corner of Grand River & US-23, & Hilton Rd. Woodland Lake is a public all sports lake that is about 309 acres in size. The deepest spot on the lake is 38 feet deep. Most of the homes are on well. You will find some big beautiful brick colonials that range from 2500 square feet to over 4000 square feet. Some are on sewers and some septic systems. I like Woodland Lake a lot because it has it has contours. What I mean by contours is the lake has 6 island, lots of bays and canals. It is an irregular shaped lake. You cannot see the whole lake from any point on the lake.
The lake is fed by Ore Creek, two unnamed streams, and springs in the lake.
