Like so many of Oxford's lakes Waterstone Lake is an old gravel pit lake. Oxford Michigan was once the mining capital of Michigan. Years ago glacier's formed a sand and gravel area in the Oxford area. Some of the beautiful lakes that remain are a result of the mining done in the early 1900's.
The developers and builders did good when designing the subdivisions around Waterstone and the other lakes. They have little parks in the subdivision and they have small parks with beaches on the lake. As you can see from the picture above the homes are newer.
Waterstone Lake homes are what some lake home buyers. Many lake home buyers are used to living in subdivisions around Metro Detroit. They are used to similar style, size, and age of homes. These buyers are sometimes thrown off when they see many of Metro Detroit's Lakes.
You have to remember in the years from 1920 to 1950 many lakes were weekend getaways for Detroit and Detroit suburbs residents. They built little small cottages. Over the years the homes were added onto, remodeled, or torn down. So many lakes in the Metro Detroit area have a mish mash of homes. There may be a little small 700 square foot cottage built in the 1940's next to a 2000 built 3000 square foot brick colonial. Some lake home buyers just can't wrap their heads around the disparity of the homes. They sometimes will pass on a lake because of this. They look for what I call a subdivision style lake. A lake that has homes that are similar in style, age, and size are more to their liking. They like lakes like Waterstone Lake.

As you can see from the above picture the lake bottom is sandy. Many of the homes have sandy beaches. Waterstone Lake is great for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. As of now there is no major vegetation issues such as lily pads or cattails on Waterstone Lake.
You will love the big newer built brick homes. They were built between the years of 2000 - 2017. Most of the homes sit on lake lots ranging from .34 acres to .55 acres. They mainly are brick homes with the following characteristics.
They are beautiful homes that lake buyers love.
Lake living is a great way of life. It is like being on vacation everyday. There is something about water that is calming and peaceful. When you have a tough day at work you can come home and relax on the water. Whether you jump on the boat or just sit on your deck or patio it is relaxing. You don't need to drive three hours up north to go swimming or to get away from it all.
