 What is the weed control like on Lime lake in Livingston County?  Most of our local lakes in Oakland County have gone to chemical weed control.  The chemicals are supposedly not bad for the environment or for us.  Most chemical weed control companies will post a notice on your property notifying you of when they are going to put the chemicals in and how long you have to stay out of the water.  Some lake residents water their lawn out of the lake.  So the notice will tell you how long to use the lake water.  We believe that the chemical control is quite effective if done by a good comany.  However there are some algae and weeds that are not controlled well.  Ask the seller what type of weed control the lake does.

Lime Lake homes are newer homes, most of them were built from the late 1970's to the 2000's.  Looking at the satellite view of the lake we think there are only about 25 to 30 lakefront homes.   Pine Creek subdivision has many of the homes on the lake.  The subdivision has an association lake access area.

The lakefront homes sizes range from 1500 to 5000 square feet. 

Lime Lake properties have 100' to over 200' of lake frontage.  Some homes along Brighton Rd have some lots over 1 acre.

About half the lake is natural and undeveloped.  We were told it was a no gas motor lake.  It is either paddle or an electric motor lake.  We did see one pontoon lake (We are thinking it must have been an electric motor on it)

All dreams are possible.  How bad do you really want the dream?  If you have the dream of living on the lake one of the first things we would suggest to you is to figure out what type of lake you want.  How you do that is to answer some of these questions. 

1.)  Are you active?  Do you want to water ski, wakeboard, or tube?  If so then you need a powerboat lake, an all sports lake

2.) Are you looking for a fishing lake?  Sometimes a private lake with little boating pressure has better fishing. 

3.) Are you a kayaker or a sailor?  A person that wants to sail will need a bigger wider lake.  A kayaker may want a lake that is not so busy.

4.) Do you want peace and quiet noise?  Then you may want an electric motor lake. Or maybe a lake that you cannot have jet skis on.  Or maybe you would be happy with some peace and quiet before 10 or after 6.  Some lakes have lake rules and hours when boats can make a wake

These are just some of the questions you need to be asking yourself when buying a lake home.  Knowing whether you want an all sports lake, a fishing lake, a non motorized lake, a big lake or a small lake will help you narrow your search and save you time when looking for lake homes
