Mohawk Lake Lakefront homes were mainly built from 1958 - 1970. Except for...... the homes on the gated street on Cove Bay. Those homes were built during the years of 1990 -2006. Most of the new lakefront homes on Cove Bay have 70' lake frontage. These newer homes have all the amenities of the latest brick homes built in the 2000's. They have:
- great rooms
- large master bedrooms
- basements (some walkout)
- large walk-in closets
- large kitchens with plenty of cabinets
- open layouts
The other lakefront homes on the lake are the typical home styles that were built in the late 1950's to 1970's. They are ranches, split levels, and smaller colonials. They are the smaller type homes that range from about 1500 square feet to about 2400 square feet. The children that live on the lake attend Waterford Schools.
Of course like all Oakland County Lakes there is a home here or there that was built in the later years on lake lots that had been empty.

Mohawk Lake in Waterford Michigan is fed by the Clinton River and connects to Wormer Lake and Schoolhouse Lake. Boaters can get to Loon Lake also. You just can't have a tower for wake-boarding because you couldn't get under the bridges.
There is an public access on Loon Lake which allows boaters and fisherman to get all the way up to Mohawk Lake. There are four islands on the lake. Combined with Wormer Lake there is 2.2 miles of total shoreline.
There are no more lake properties being made. So there will always be a demand for Southeastern Michigan lake homes. A local lake home usally holds it's value better than a regular home.

- May operate a boat powered by a motor of more than 6 hp but no more than 35 hp legally only if they:

- May not operate a boat powered by a motor of more than 35 hp legally under any conditions.

Running over somebody with a boat can cause death and major damage if they are hit by the propeller of the boat. Here is how to prevent your prop on your boat from striking anybody
Turn off the engine when passengers are boarding or disembarking. Propellers should not be spinning when a passenger is in a vulnerable situation.
Prevent passengers from being thrown overboard accidentally.
- Never start a boat with the engine in gear.
- Never ride on a seat back, gunwale, transom, or bow.
- Make sure all passengers are seated properly before getting underway. Some operators cause injuries by putting the engine in gear while people are still swimming or diving from the boat.
- Assign a responsible adult to watch any children in the boat and sound the alarm if a child falls overboard.
Always, Always lookout for tubers that have fallen off, skiers that are down, and people swimming in the water. The primary cause of propeller strike accidents is operator inattention or carelessness.
- Slow down when approaching congested areas and anchorages. In congested areas, always be alert for swimmers and divers.
- Learn to recognize warning buoys that mark swimming and other hazardous areas.
- Keep the boat away from marked swimming and diving areas. Become familiar with the red flag with a white diagonal stripe and the blue-and-white “Alfa” flag—both signal that divers are down.

Information about the lake from a neighbor that wrote us
1st, Loon Lake which is connected to Schoolhouse, connects to Silver Lake. This is only manageable by small vessels. Also, in a small vessel, from Loon lake you can go under Dixie highway toward the Waterford Historical Log cabin park and to the fish hatchery.
2nd. There is a house on Schoolhouse Lake that was built in the 20's, mine. 2975 West Walton was built by my Great grandfather in 1929. 3001West Walton was built by him in 1926. It was the first home on the lake. We have over 350ft of lake frontage.
