Tamarack Lake is a No wake lake. It is connected to the Portage Chain of lakes or as some other people call it the Pinckney chain of lakes or the Hamburg chain of lakes. There is a bridge that you have to get under. When the water is higher it is sometimes hard to get under the bridge. So you must have a low side walls on your boat if you want to get out all the time.
Anybody from the chain of lakes can come onto the lake so it really isn't a private lake. But usually it will be a pontoon that is just cruising around looking at the homes, or a kayaker, or a fisherman looking for that hot fishing spot.
Since it is a "no wake" lake you aren't going to get skiers or jet-skiers tearing about the lake and making lots of noise.
It is a 16 acre lake according to the Michigan DNR. But 2 other sites say different sizes so who really knows the true size.
The children that live on the lake go to Pinckney Schools.

We want to provide you with the best information possible about Wayne, Livingston, and Oakland County Lakes. The reason we started my websites is when we had lake buyers years ago we could not find all the information on any lake all in one spot. We had to jump around and piece all the information together. We wanted to be able to find what we needed for my clients on one page.
So we started going out and visiting the lakes when we had free time. We sat and talked to the local lake residents when we had time. We have taken all these pictures. We have over a hundred pictures of some of the lakes. I took pictures of the homes on the lake one year after my wife died. I did not feel like working, but I needed something to do. So I drove around to all the local lakes in the area, gathered information, and took pictures. It kept me busy after my wife’s death from breast cancer. At the same time I gained so much knowledge about our local lakes.
During the late fall and early winter during our slow time we put this website together. We keep updating it as I get better information. In fact if you know something about a lake send us an email. We will add it to the website. Or if you have a great picture to share we will be glad to post it.

Tamarack Lakefront properties are like most Chain of Lake properties. They are tighter together and you are not going to find a lake home with acreage on this lake. There is a 820 square foot ranch on a 45' foot lot and then there is 4200 square foot colonial and 144' lots. And there is all sizes and shapes of lake homes and properties in between. There are about 64 homes on the lake
- 2 - 5 bedrooms, mainly 3 & 4 bedrooms
- 1 - 4 bathrooms
- 820 square foot to about 4200 square foot
- Homes were built between 1962-2017
- A few no car garages to 3 car garages mainly 2 car garages
- Home styles are ranches, colonials, contemporary
- Some homes have basements
In the last 3 years (from 10/2011) the most expensive home on the lake sold for $530,000. It was a 4200 square ft colonial, 1977 built, 5 Bedroom, 4 bath, 3 car garage lake home that was on .68 of an acre. The least expensive Tamarck Lake home sold during the same period sold for $149,000. It was a 1048 square foot ranch, 1971 built, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 2 car garage on 75' frontage.
