Walled Lake Waterfront & real estate Oakland County
Walled Lake Lakefront homes range from 700 square foot to over 3500 square foot. There are ranchs, cape cods, Bungalows, contemporary, and colonials that dot the lake. Walled Lake waterfront homes range in age from the 1920's to 2007. The lakefront properties that have been for sale lately range from $35,000 to over $500,000. Like most of the Oakland County Lakefront homes you can have a 1928 700 square foot ranch home sitting next to a 2000 square foot colonial built in the 1970's. It is a mixed bag of homes but 99% of them look great. On the east side of the lake the lake front homes actually sit across the road. Usually there is a small grass area on the lake side where your docks are.I would venture a guess that about 40% of Walled Lake water front homeshave a road between them and the lake. Most of the "cottages" are gone on the east side of the lake, but there are still some small 1200 square foot ranch homes left on the lake.

Many of the homes on the East side and South of the lake do not sit directly on the lake. East Lake and South Lake Rd are in front of the houses. But then they have a small parcel of land that sits between the road and the water. That is where most people barbecue, tan, and enjoy the lake with friends.

Walled Lake just had it's 3rd annual Beach Party in 2009 where they have live music and they even block off the downtown area and dump sand on the street. They have some jet ski and wake board competition. The local residents come out to support it and everybody has a good time. There are little booths with local vendors, a beer tent, and food booths. The Beach Party is usually a two day event held in July.
Walled Lake also has small Hydro plane boat races once a year.

Walled Lake lies in both Novi and Walled Lake. So depending on where you live your children could be in either the Novi school district or the Walled Lake school district. Both are good school districts. For a general idea the south western part of the lake will be the Novi area. Walled Lake restaurants. Bayside is located right on Walled Lake with outside seating so you can sit and relax. That's my favorite type of dining when I go on vacation. Sitting outside looking at the water sipping a cool drink. That's the life.
Mercer Beach Walled Lake
Is just a small beach located just east of downtown Walled Lake. It is a public beach that is not very crowded usually (unless it is Walled Lake Beach Party weekend). It is clean and there is ample parking nearby.
Walled Lake Location
Walled Lake is located in Novi and Walled Lake Oakland County MI. Walled Lake is North of 12 mile and 13 Mile Rd. East of West Park and Beck Rd, West of Novi Rd. Walled Lake is South of Pontiac Trail and Maple Rd. You can drive around two sides of Walled Lake via South Lake Rd and East Lake Rd. East Lake Rd will take you into the downtown area of the City of Walled Lake.View Larger Map
You can probably count on two hands the number of Southeastern Michigan lakes that have a bar or restaurant on the lake. Union Lake has the Matter of Taste restaurant on it. Walled Lake has Bayside Restaurant on it. White Lake has the White Lake Inn on it. These are just some of the lakes that have a bar and restaurant on it. There are not many lakes that do. Years ago there used to be more, but many have burnt down or closed. They tore them down to make way for homes.
Do you want the convenience of having a place to eat on the lake? If you are wondering how does a bar or restaurant affect the price of a lake home let me explain. Again there is no specific dollar amount that you can add on for the restaurant on the lake feature. It is a bonus to have a bar or restaurant on the lake. But to say it adds dollars to your home, it really does not. It just makes the lake a little more desirable and fun. It is nice to go for a boat ride and be able to stop for quick meal if you do not feel like cooking. Or if you want a cocktail it is always nice to stop and visit with people from the lake.
Russ has a home on White Lake and love having the White Lake Inn on the lake. I love having the ability to take the pontoon up for a late night drink. I like being able to run up for a pizza when Lisa doesn't want to cook. It is a benefit for the lake. So be sure to check out the local lakes that have bars and restaurants on them.
