Maxfield Lake real estate Livingston County
Like so many of Livingston County Lakes Maxfield Lake real estate is different depending on which road you are on.
Maxfield Lakefront homes for sale. There are about 10 homes that sit across from the road on the east side of the lake. On the northeast and southeast ends of the lake the homes sit above the lake and require stairs to get to the waterfront. The south and east ends of the lake have paved roads, where as the west side of the lake is gravel roads.
You are not going to find big luxury estate style homes on the lake. Most of the homes are under 2000 square feet. Though there are a few that are about 3000 square feet. Many of them were built between the 1930's - 1960's. But many of them have been updated and remodeled. Of course there are homes that were between 2011 and the 1960's. In fact one was built in the 2000's.
Many of Maxfield Lake properties range from 40' -65' of lake frontage, but again there are bigger ones that are as large as 200'. Most of the lake homes are not on huge lots. There is one property on Shady Crest on the west side of the lake that sits on 5 acres.

In some city subdivisions there is the keep up with the Joneses mentality. Wish I could say that keeping up with the Joneses does not apply on the lakes. It does unfortunately with some of the lake home owners when it comes to boats and toys. Who has the fastest Jet Ski, or the most expensive boat? The keeping up with the Joneses does not apply to much to homes. It is more about the toys.
I guess I would say that the boats and toys are more important the lake house sometimes. Landscaping on most lake home is simpler. You are not going to have three level of shrubs or $100,000 front landscaping. Lake home owners are more about enjoying the lake than taking care of the yard. Some lake home have little or no landscaping.
What is different about most lake home owners is that they are individualist. They are not into keeping up with the Joneses. Part of it that lake homes are not similar. They vary so much. So one lady is not going to be able to decorate the same way in her 1500 square foot remodeled cottage as her neighbor in the rebuilt colonial that is 2400 square feet. Different layouts and different styles. No keeping up with the Jones.
Many lake homes have beautiful interiors that are well kept and well maintained. The prestige of lake living is just that. You get to wake up each morning to the lake. You get to come home to the lake each night. You are able to sit on your patio, or take a ride around the lake when you want to. That is best part of lake live.
Maxfield Lake Fishing

Bitten Lake, Wallace Lake, Long Lake, Round Lake and Handy Lake
Every lake in Livingston and Oakland County is so different. Sometimes the homes can vary from one side of the lake to the other, or from one road to another. So when you read my pages on these lakes take it with a grain of salt. I can't see all the houses or all the properties. I just try to give you an idea of what the real estate and the lake is like. You have to drive it or get on it to really see what the lake is like but I hope this helps you get a general idea of what the lakes is like.
