Crescent Lake is called that because the lake is sort of crescent shaped. We would call it "U" shaped. But who would have called the lake "You Lake"?
Children that live on the lake would go to Waterford School System.
It would say the boat traffic on the lake is not heavy. Of course it is busier on the weekends.

Elizabeth Lake Rd runs along two sides of Crescent Lake. Elizabeth Lake Rd is a busy road especially at rush hour. So Crescent Lake waterfront properties on those sides of the lake sit across the road. The road is in between the houses and the lake. But there is a little bit of grass between the lake and the road. Though I think it would be hard to enjoy sitting there with all the road traffic and noise.
There are not many homes located on the West side of the lake. Most homes are small, no huge homes. So if you are looking to buy a mega mansion on a lake this lake isn't going to be for you.
When I say small homes I mean most of Crescent Lake homes are under 2000 square feet. Though there is a 3277 square foot contemporary home. But on the other end of the spectrum there are 800 square foot bungalows.

On the West side of the lake there is a huge neighbor association park that has a Pavillion and beach volleyball, swing sets, and bathrooms. It is about the size of 2-3 football fields. No boats over 50 mph and no wake in the canals. The Village Place restaurant is right on the lake.

The Metro Detroit area has many lakes and many different home styles to fit any potential lake buyers that are moving to Waterford Township or moving to the metro Detroit areas. What is the best county to buy a lake home in? You should not base your decision on buying a lake home in on a county. It should be about convenience. If you are thinking about commuting to work which lakes, which counties will work best for you. You do not want to be driving an hour and a half back and forth to work when you could have been driving only 45 minutes.
Another factor in many of my clients decisions is not only drive time to work, but also how far are their kids. How far do the kids have to drive to get to the lake home, or lake cottage. I have had clients that have kids in Lansing and one in Mt Clemons. So they want the lake cottage to be somewhere in between. Or one in Ann Arbor and one in Farmington Hills. The clients may be retired so they have no drive time. It is more about convenience to the kids.
Of course Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, and Genesee Counties all have lakes. All lakes are different. So besides drive time it may boil down to the lake and the lake home you can find. If you are not restricted by drive time then you have a wide open choice of four counties and hundreds of lakes.
So there is no best county to buy a lake home in. There is no best city to buy a cottage in. It is all about your criteria, your wants. If you have no travel restrictions or times you will have many choices.
