The community of White lake is what I would say "changing from semi-rural to suburban" so waterfront homes for sale in White Lake Michigan are going to be representative of that.  You are going to find lakes houses that are very old.  Some even built in the 1890's.  There are not many of those, but you are going to find lake cottages and homes that were built in the 1920's - 1950's that are smaller ranch style homes on crawl spaces.  Some may even have Michigan basements built of stone.

Some of the homes over the years we added onto, some were torn down and rebuilt, and some remained the same.  You can usually tell the era that the homes that were torn down and rebuilt in.  In the 1960's and 1970's the rebuilt homes may be bi-levels, tri-levels, or quads.  From the 1960's to early 1990s you will find colonial homes that have 8' ceilings in the family rooms.  From the 1990's on you will find bigger colonial and contemporary homes that have the larger master suites, walk in closets, open layouts, and soaring great rooms that today's buyers want.

Lake homes in White Lake Michigan

Back before 1990 it an open layout concept was rare.  For the kitchen to have large windows and a good view of the lake was also rare.  Even many master bedrooms prior to 1990 did not have large windows with lake views.  What buyers and home owners want has changed over the years.  From simple 2 bedroom cottages with no garage or basements to today's large 3000 and 4000 square foot homes with walkout basements and multiple car garages.  Preferences in lake homes in White Lake Township have changed over the years and you will see that the newer lakefront homes for sale White Lake Michigan reflect that.  There are no two houses alike on many lakes.

The lakes you will find similar style homes and age groups is going to be on Tull Lake, Neva Lake, Lake Ona, and Stison Lake.  I would call these lakes more of a subdivision style lakes.  Many of the homes will be brick homes.  Most will have basements, 2 car attached garages, and brick exteriors.  The main styles will be colonials, ranches, and split level homes.  These lakes are different from the widely different styles and ages of lakes house on many Oakland County Lakes.  The waterfront homes on Cedar Island Lake are a mixed lot on some sides of the lake though there is one subdivision on the lake.

Waterfront homes in White Lake are not going to be on the upper end of the price range simply because the community is further away from Metro Detroit.  It is not a simple drive to get to downtown Detroit.  However there are still quite a few million dollar plus White Lake waterfront homes.  Over the last couple of years there are some lake homes for sale in White Lake Township over the million dollar mark or over the $800,000 range.  These lake homes will be custom built homes built to one of the prior owner's dreams and specifications or on large lots.  Large lots command high dollars.  Some of these properties are amazing.  Quite a few lakes have 4000+ square foot waterfront homes on them.  In the last two years there have been a couple of million dollar lake homes on White Lake in White Lake Township that have sold.

• Allen Lake
• Small Allen Lake
• Bogie Lake White Lake MI                   
  • This is a non motorized lake, it is about 76 acres in size, and is private. Located in White Lake Twp and the kids attend Huron Valley schools. The homes run on well, and septic systems. 
• Brendel Lake White Lake MI                
  • This is an all Sports lake at about 89 acres, it is private, there are canals. The homes lie in the Huron Valley School district, and the homes are on well and septic systems.  It is more of a long narrow lake.

• Cedar Island Lake White Lake MI        
  • Cedar Island Lake is a public all sports lake and is in White Lake Twp.  The public access only has 4 spots so there is not a lot of extra boat traffic on the lake. This lake is in the Huron Valley, and Walled lake schools. There are homes with lots over an acre. 
• Cooley Lake White Lake MI                  
  • Cooley Lake is an all sports lake that is private. Located in White Lake and Commerce. Kids go to Walled lake schools. The homes are on lots less than an acre.  Like most of White Lake waterfront homes they are on well and septic.
• Foley Lake White Lake MI                      

  • This lake is in White Lake. The kids go to Clarkston Schools. The roads are paved, and the homes are on well and septic systems.   It is just a small lake.

• Grass Lake White Lake MI               
  • Grass lake is an all sports lake and is private. Located in White Lake, and the children go to Huron Valley schools. There are no Canals, and there are homes on the lake with lots over an acre.  One side of the lake is a park.  The lake does drop when there is a drought.  To get to the lake you have to go down a dirt road.
• Lake Mead
• Lake Ona White Lake MI                 
  • Lake Ona is a non motorized lake, that is 11 acres in size. The lake is private, there is no public access, and there are no public beaches.  I have been told the fishing is great.  During the winter they have bubblers to prevent fish kills. 
• Lake Stinson            
• Long Lake White Lake MI
  • Long Lake is a Public all Sports lake located off Union Lake Rd.  You will find many smaller waterfront homes on the lake. The lake is about 146 acres in size. 
• Mandon Lake White Lake MI   
  • Mandon Lake is an all sports lake, which is private. The lake is about 26 acres in size, and about 18 feet deep. There is no public beach, or public access.   It is a small lake but the residents love it
• McWithy Lake
• Neva Lake      
• Oxbow Lake White Lake MI            
  • Oxbow Lake is an all sports lake, at about 270 acres. This lake is private. Located in White lake, and the kids attend Huron Valley schools.  There is a small tavern called Spraders on the Lake 
• Pontiac Lake White Lake MI                 
  • This lake is located in White Lake Twp. The kids attend Waterford schools. The homes are usually on lots under an acre, and run on well and septic systems.  There is a state park on the lake.  So there is a large area of the lake that is undeveloped due to the state park.
• Round Lake White Lake MI                   
  • Round lake is an all sports lake and is private. The homes are on lots usually smaller than an acre, and run on well and septic. The kids attend Walled lake schools. 
• Sugden Lake White Lake MI               
  • Sugden lake is an all sports lake which is private. It is about 67 acres in size, and is about 43 feet deep. there is no public access to this lake. 
• Tull Lake White Lake MI          
  • Tull lake is an all sports lake and is in White lake. The children attend Waterford schools. The homes run on municipal water and some of the homes sewer sanitary systems others are on septics. 
• White Lake White Lake MI             
  • White lake is an all sports lake, at about 540 acres in size.  It is the 6th largest lake in Oakland County The lake has DNR access, along with public access. There are no public beaches. There are homes that are on lots over an acre.
